Tracing its roots back to 1920, Ethias specializes in life policies and additionally offers insurance coverage for automobiles, homes, property and casualty, and death. Recently Ethias Verzekering company also began offering home, vehicle, and domestic renovation loans through its Ethias Banque division (formerly Smap Banque). About 84% of Ethias' income comes from its life policies. Ethias Verzekering company also owns an approximate 6.8% stake in Belgian bank Dexia.
