TherOx, Inc.
TherOx is a medical device company that developed the SuperSaturated Oxygen (SSO2) Therapy System to prevent muscle tissue death following a heart attack. The SSO2 Therapy System mixes oxygen and saline with the patient's blood and pumps it back through the coronary artery to restore blood flow and reduce the amount of heart muscle tissue that dies after a person goes into cardiac arrest. The SSO2 System has not been FDA-approved; TherOx has conducted two studies involving 570 patients and hopes to be able to market the product in mid-2009.
