Sirona Dental Systems, Inc.
Factoid for the day: the first electric dental drill was invented in 1882 and the company that made it is now known as Sirona Dental Systems. The company still makes handheld dental instruments as well as imaging systems, dental CAD/CAM systems used in restorations, and a full line of other products used by dentists and dental laboratories worldwide. Its CEREC system is a 3-D computer-aided contraption for making ceramic restorations (such as crowns and bridges) in the dentist's office rather than a lab. The firm's imaging systems include traditional X-ray equipment and digital radiography systems. Other products include dental chairs (known as "treatment centers"), and instrument cleaning systems.
