Longport, Inc.
Longport sells high-frequency ultrasound scanners. Capable of producing images of the skin up to three centimeters deep, the scanner can be used to assess the severity of wounds and burns and determine the effectiveness of treatments. It eliminates the need to take physical biopsies in many cases. Images taken with Longport's scanner can be printed instantly, or they can be saved or sent electronically. While the company developed the scanner and owns the patent, it relies on two UK companies to manufacture them. SRA Development makes probes for the scanner, and Netbox builds the scanners. Chairman Michie Proctor controls 15% of Longport.
