Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of The Mid-Atlantic States is an East Coast king of health insurance services. Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of The Mid-Atlantic States company is a subsidiary of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan that provides about 500,000 customers in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. with health care coverage. Offerings include HMO, point of service (POS), and high-deductable plans, as well as Medicare, dental, and other supplemental coverage for individuals and businesses. The health plan offers access to the Kaiser Permanente network of hospitals and physician practices in the region, including some 30 medical office complexes and about 900 physicians. Kaiser Permanente established its operations in the Mid-Atlantic region in 1980.
