US Armed Forces Retirement Home
This government agency provides homes for heroes. The US Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) consists of the 276-acre US Soldiers' and Airmen's Home in Washington, DC, and the 44-acre, 11-story US Naval Home in Gulfport, Mississippi. Both are continuing care retirement communities in which residents can live independently or in assisted living or long-term care facilities. The homes have about 1,600 residents (retired sailors, soldiers, airmen and women, and marines), 97% of whom served in a war theater and nearly 93% of whom retired with 20 or more years of military service.
