Educational Broadcasting Corporation
Educational Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) operates two public broadcasting stations serving the New York City area. Its flagship Thirteen/WNET, the highest-rated public TV station in the US, offers a wealth of locally produced content focused on the Big Apple, as well as programming supplied by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Thirteen/WNET is also a major producer of shows for PBS that are distributed to other public TV stations. In addition, the non-profit corporation operates WLIW21, which serves audiences on Long Island, as well as several digital channels, and on-demand video services. Thirteen/WNET began broadcasting in 1962.
