Magneco/Metrel, Inc.

Magneco/Metrel makes ceramics, but you won't find any artistic pieces at this company's plant! Magneco/Metrel uses the world's largest blast furnace to produce high-temperature refractory ceramics. The lineup serves as a lining in pipes and molds carrying molten iron and steel. The heat of molten steel would erode the pipes and molds without the ceramic barrier. Magneco/Metrel also makes a spray-on nano-particulate refractory line that can be used to create a liner for constructing or repairing steel-making molds and pipe. Its ceramics line is sold largely to steel foundries; other applications include ironmaking, glass, and copper. Magneco/Metrel was established in 1979 and is owned by CEO Charles Connors.
