Measures such as selling nearly all tickets online and charging for meals onboard help easyJet control costs. The carrier operates from about 20 crew bases on the European continent and in the UK, including London's Gatwick, Luton, and Stansted airports. Its fleet consists of about 175 Airbus and Boeing jets. The carrier was established in 1995 by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

EgyptAir company is, of course, the national airline of Egypt. Serving nearly 70 destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, the carrier also flies throughout the Middle East and to several domestic locations. It operates a fleet of about 40 aircraft, consisting mostly of Airbus jets. EgyptAir owns a cargo carrier, a ground handling services company, an aircraft maintenance company, and a hospital. It also owns stakes in three regional carriers -- Air Cairo, Air Sinai, and EgyptAir Express. Founded in 1932, the airline is owned by the Egyptian government; it announced but later canceled plans to sell 20% of the company to employees and the public.

EL AL Israel Airlines, the nation's leading carrier, flies between its suburban Tel Aviv hub and more than 40 destinations in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and South Africa. (It serves some markets through code-sharing agreements, which allow carriers to sell tickets on one another's flights and thus extend their networks; code-sharing partners include American Airlines.) EL AL operates a fleet of about 35 Boeing aircraft, including four freighters. The company is known as a world leader in airline safety and security measures, such as antimissile systems on aircraft. Israel-based tour operator Knafaim Holdings owns a controlling stake in EL AL. The carrier, originally state-owned, began operations in 1948.

Emirates Group is familiar with, it's the skies above Dubai. The group operates through international airline Emirates, which is wholly owned by the government of Dubai. The group also owns air travel services provider Dnata, which provides ground handling, air cargo transportation, and tour and travel arrangements throughout the Middle East. Its portfolio of operations also includes Emirates SkyCargo (freight and logistics), Emirates Engineering (civil aviation maintenance), Emirates Hotels & Resorts (hospitality management), Emirates Aviation College (pilot and cabin crew training), and Mercator (IT services provider to such customers as British Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Qantas).
