Kaiser Aluminum went on a diet, slimmed down considerably, and now operates just 12 fabricated products manufacturing plants in the US and Canada. Kaiser's main customers are in the aerospace, engineering, and transportation markets. The company manufactures more than 500 million pounds of fabricated aluminum products annually. A joint-venture of ARCO Aluminum (60%) and Novelis (40%), Logan Aluminum consists of one production facility that also manufactures products for makers of building products and rigid containers as well as for the automotive industry. Its technology includes ingot casting, hot and cold rolling, and finishing. Logan also operates an aluminum recycling facility that opened in 2008. ARCO Aluminum is a part of energy giant BP, and Novelis is owned by Indian aluminum producer Hindalco.

Aluminum and plastics products maker Loxcreen does its part to keep the outside out and the inside in. The company specializes in custom aluminum and vinyl extrusions; it also produces and supplies a full line of screen doors, storm doors, windows, roofing products (flashing and edging), and ventilation products (foundation vents, ridge vents, and soffit vents). Loxcreen also offers floor trim and weather stripping. The company operates manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout the US as well as one facility in Canada.

National Aluminium is among India's largest producers of aluminum and related products. Founded in 1981, the company's operations encompass the entire aluminum production process, from bauxite mining to alumina refining to aluminum smelting and casting. Its business also includes power generation and port activities. National Aluminium manufactures a line of aluminum products that includes rolled aluminum, wire rods, cast strips, billets, and alumina hydrate. In addition to engaging in a healthy domestic trade, National Aluminium exports its products elsewhere in Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the US; exports account for more than a third of business.

Nippon Light Metal Company (NLM) is heavily into aluminum. The company's operations span the process from turning bauxite ore into alumina to smelting aluminum to fabricating finished aluminum products. It makes ingot, sheets, and extrusions; chemicals (aluminum hydroxide, caustic soda, fluorine); fabricated products; and building materials. Those last two units -- fabricated products (food containers, fuel tanks, ladders) and building materials (scaffolds, fences and railings, soundproof walls) -- contribute about two-thirds of sales. NLM has a joint venture with Mitsubishi to produce aluminum sheet for automotive applications.
