Transense Technologies plc
Transense Technologies is betting that one of the next safety features to be required on cars will be sensors that alert drivers to dangerous changes in tire pressure. Operating from a former US airbase in the UK, the company is developing a variety of sensors intended to measure minute changes in pressure, torque, and strain in tires, steering columns, brake pads, and other automotive components. Transense Technologies' sensors use surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology to detect these changes. Transense Technologies was founded by chief executive James Perry, a former UK financial journalist, and by the company's former advanced research director, Anthony Lonsdale.
