Founded in 1906, NPM/CNP is controlled by the Frere family. Compagnie Nationale a Portefeuille SA (CNP) is a Belgium-based investment holding company. The Company's portfolio of assets splits into two categories: the direct investments and the investments through the Pargesa/GBL Group. The direct investments are represented by CNP’s consolidated participations in various companies, including Distripar, Belgian IceCream Group and Transcor Astra Group, as well as by other smaller investments in such companies as Total, M6, Iberdrola and Arkema, among others. The second category of the Company’s portfolio is represented by its investments through the Pargesa/GBL Group, which is jointly controlled by CNP and the Power Group (Canada), and which has large or controlling holdings in international companies, such as GDF Suez, Lafarge, Imerys, Suez Environnement and Pernod Ricard.
