Pennfield Corporation
Roll back the curtain of time to the spring of 1919 when two brothers, David and Ernest Horn, had a vision. They founded a company in agriculturally-prosperous York County, Pennsylvania with $500 in cash and a $2,000 loan. Included in the transaction was a horse-drawn wagon. Within two years they were able to buy a Model T pickup to make sales calls and deliveries to area farmers.
The Horn brothers believed in treating their customer as they'd like to be treated -- always providing personalized service and quality products. By 1927 the Horns were ready to start manufacturing their own commercial poultry and livestock feed, and in 1935 they built their first complete feed manufacturing plant in York, PA.Over the years, the company flourished and grew from a small grist-type feed mill into a diversified, multi-state business. In 1985 the company acquired Ritter Food Service, a food distribution company, in the 1990s, several more strategic acquisitions were integrated into both the feed and food segments of the business.
Today, Pennfield is a modern, innovative company headquartered in Lancaster, PA, and has the resources and commitment needed for continuing growth in the agricultural and food industries. This initiative will continue to be directed toward providing Pennfield customers with the finest products and service anywhere.
