Texas Medical Association

Texas Medical Association

The Texas Medical Association was organized by 35 physicians in 1853 to serve the people of Texas in matters of medical care, prevention and cure of disease, and the improvement of public health. Today, with more than 43,000 physician and medical student members, TMA's vision is still to "improve the health of all Texans." TMA supports Texas physicians by providing distinctive solutions to the challenges they encounter in the care of patients.

The medical society, which is the largest in the nation, has grown from 35 physicians in 1853 to more than 43,000 doctors and medical students. Members are eligible to receive benefits, such as financial and investment planning, loans, and subscription services. The TMA also publishes articles, newsletters, and a magazine about hot topics in the medical field. Its political arm, the Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee (TEXPAC), acts as an advocate for its members' interests on issues that arise in the state and national legislature.
