Parents as Teachers National Center, Inc.
Parents as Teachers (PAT) has preschool down. The not-for-profit group offers parent education and international support programs for parents to teach their children in the early years before kindergarten. PAT develops curricula, trains early childhood professionals, and certifies parent educators. Parents as Teachers National Center, Inc. goals are to improve parenting skills, instruct parents to recognize developmental delays, prevent child abuse, and help kids get ready for elementary school. To that end, it advocates at the federal level for legislation to benefit families with young children. PAT has programs in more than 40 US states, and in Canada, Germany, Mexico, the UK, and many other countries. PAT was founded in 1985.
