The New Jersey Turnpike Authority is dedicated to the safe, efficient movement of people and goods over two of the busiest toll roads in America, the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. The New York State Thruway Authority oversees a 641-mile toll road system and a 524-mile canal system. The authority's toll road system, known as the Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway, is the largest in the US. It crosses the state from New York City to Buffalo, and more than 80% of the population of New York State lives along the corridor formed by the Thruway's 426-mile main line. Other arms of the Thruway connect with toll roads and other highways in neighboring states. The New York State Canal Corporation oversees the state's canal system of five lakes and four canals, which connect bodies of water such as the Hudson River with Lake Champlain.

The BBA was established in 1911 and currently offers a range of services for people involved in the bloodstock industry or for those intending to embark on a bloodstock breeding enterprise. Whilst the principal activity revolves around the purchase of nominations to stallions based in Europe it is represented at many of the principal sales of bloodstock, particularly in the UK, and able to advise on the sale and purchase of bloodstock for breeding and racing. Other day-to-day activities involve arranging planned matings, including mare/stallion compatibility, pedigree analysis of prospective purchases, valuations and management. Mating recommendations in this way have so far produced nine individual Group/Grade 1 winners, including the 2006 Juddmonte International Stakes winner Notnowcato. In 2006 BBA established a bespoke software based advisory service for breeders who require more in-depth information analysis of their mares' pedigree and potential. For the 2006 covering season (February to June), BBA purchased 72 nominations for 72 individual stallions based in England, Ireland and France.
