The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo puts on one of North America's largest festivals. Since the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was established, it has made an impressive footprint on the livestock and entertainment industries and in the sport of rodeo. Proceeds from the not-for-profit group's annual show support scholarship programs. The show also is designed to promote better breeding and improved marketing of livestock. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Inc. draws thousands of entries, including both animals and works of art. Show winners are sold at auction for prices that run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo events are held at Reliant Stadium, home to the NFL's Houston Texans, and surrounding venues. The first show was held in 1932.
