Through its subsidiaries, the design firm provides geotechnical and civil engineering, financial consulting, and homeland security services to government agencies and school districts predominantly in California, but also in other western states. It focuses on small- to mid-sized agencies (serving 100,000 to 300,000 residents) that may fall below the radar of larger competitors. Its engineering services segment -- which undertakes building and safety design, road work, flood control, and wastewater projects -- accounts for more than 80% of revenues. Director Linda Heil controls about 13% of Willdan's stock.
