Tesoro Corporation, a Fortune 100 company, is an independent refiner and marketer of petroleum products. Tesoro, through its subsidiaries, operates seven refineries in the western United States with a combined capacity of approximately 665,000 barrels per day. The Retail segment sells gasoline and diesel fuel through company-operated retail stations and third-party branded distributors in the western and mid-continental United States. As of the above date, it included a network of 389 branded retail stations primarily operated by the company under the Tesoro, Mirastar, Shell, and USA Gasolinetm names; and 490 branded stations operated by independent dealers. Tesoro Corporation markets its refined products to wholesale and retail customers, as well as commercial end-users. The company was formerly known as Tesoro Petroleum Corp and changed its name to Tesoro Corporation in November 2004. Tesoro Corporation was founded in 1939 and is based in San Antonio, Texas.

The balmy Trade Winds blow over Tesoro Hawaii, a subsidiary of Tesoro Petroleum, and operator of the 94,000-barrel-per-day Kapolei refinery on the coast of Oahu. The largest of Hawaii's two refineries, Kapolei has distillate hydrocracker, vacuum distillation, and catalytic reformer capabilities, and supplies jet and marine fuels to the trans-Pacific transportation industry that uses Hawaii as a major refueling location. It also serves the local Hawaiian market with gasoline and diesel fuels. Other products include fuel oil, liquefied petroleum gas, and liquid asphalt. The company's Hawaiian assets includes more than 30 Tesoro-branded gas stations.

Tesoro Refining and Marketing manages the refining and marketing businesses of Tesoro Corporation. The parent company's seven refineries have a capacity of 658,000 barrels per day and produce a range of motor fuels and other petroleum products. Tesoro Refining and Marketing markets fuel to 880 branded retail gas stations (including 290 company-owned stations under the Tesoro, Shell, Mirastar, and USA Gasoline brands), in Alaska, Hawaii, and 15 western states. On the wholesale side, it markets 643,000 barrels of oil products per day. It also supplies jet fuel to the vast majority of commercial airlines with routes in the West.
