It also owns 48 patented and 5 unpatented claims totaling approximately 1,500 acres located in the Pioche Mining District, Lincoln County, Nevada. A significant expenditure would be required in order to put the mill into continuous operation if commercial mining is to be conducted on the property. ARSD believes that the real estate value of Pioche is greater than the metal value.

The founder was Louis DeBenedittis.After the death of Louis in the 1950's the company was incorporated by two of the founder's sons; Rudy and Louis DeBenedittis. The pair expanded the area of operations to include Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The Indian government owns 55% of the firm, although it plans to sell this stake as part of industrywide deregulation.

In addition to its core crude processing refinery, the company has petrochemicals and polyester staple fiber (PSF) plants. Bongaigaon Refinery & Petrochemicals is a subsidiary of oil giant Indian Oil Corporation. The refining company was incorporated in 1974 as a central government company and became a subsidiary of Indian Oil in 2001. It is the first local refinery in India that has been integrated with a petrochemical complex in the same location. Its crude distillation unit has the capacity to process 2.5 million tons of crude per year.
