Bangkok Mass Transit Authority
Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) shuttles Thai commuters around the capital city and beyond. The state-run agency provides bus transportation in Bangkok and to the surrounding provinces of Nothaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, and Nakhon Pathom. BMTA operates about 3,500 buses which service some 110 routes through eight different geographic zones. The agency's fleet includes regular air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses, expressway service buses, all-night buses, minibuses, and van buses. The agency was established by royal decree in 1976.
