International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers
Corporate executives who bargain with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) don't like to hear the words, "IAM going on strike." The labor union represents some 730,000 active and retired members through more than 5,000 contracts with employers in the US and Canada. The organization represents workers in about two dozen industries, although primarily in the air transportation, aerospace, metalworking and machinery, manufacturing, and automotive industries. In addition to negotiating wage, paid time-off, job security, and work environment issues, the union provides a pension plan and a healthcare plan.
