Mahindra & Mahindra Limited launched their latest Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) "Xylo" in India on 13th January 2009. The diesel-driven car flaunts muscular exteriors, which contribute to its commanding presence on road. The sporty exteriors are well complemented by capacious and comfortable interiors. A host of safety features ensure high level of protection for the occupants. With some thoughtful addition into the storage spaces inside the cabin, Mahindra Xylo proves to be the best companion for a long journey with a large family.
The 4-cylinder mEagle diesel engine of Mahindra Xylo has been developed on the NEF CRDe platform. Mated to 5-gears manual transmission, the engine delivers a maximum output of 112bhp @ 3800 rpm and a torque of 24 kgm @ 1800-3000 rpm. The car accelerates from zero to 60 km/h in just 5.8 seconds.
Mahindra Xylo is muscular from outside and roomy and comfortable on the inside. The sleek radiator grille with chrome slats, bumper with integrated fog lamps and sloping bonnet enhance the muscular stance of its front end. In the rear portion, the car features a trendy wrap-around taillights cluster. The vehicle gets flat-bed front seats, with three position lumbar support that makes them highly comfortable. The air conditioning system of the car ensures uniform cooling throughout the cabin.
The roomy interiors of Mahindra Xylo come with ample boot space as well as head and leg room for its occupants. The foldable flight trays, positioned at the rear portion of the front seat, are a thoughtful addition to the host of storage spaces in the cabin. The MUV comes with two mobile charging points, one each for the front and middle row occupants. It also features a digital clock. Roof console for spectacle holder is available in E6 and E8 variants of Mahindra Xylo.
Mahindra Xylo is specially designed to ensure a comfortable ride for the occupants during long journeys. The steering wheel is tilt-adjustable, which adds to the driving comfort. The double wishbone type suspension - with anti-roll bar at the front and multi-link suspension - with coil springs in the rear coordinate to absorb the bumps and potholes on uneven roads.
Mahindra Xylo has been equipped with the latest safety features that ensure all-round protection to its occupants. Seatbelts and tilt steering column are among the standard safety measures of Xylo. The special crumple zones of the automobile assist in providing protection to the occupants, from the impact of collision. Apart from this, the vehicle features engine immobilizer, which reduces the possibility of theft.
The four variants of Mahindra Xylo are E2, E4, E6 and E8. The MUV comes with a price tag ranging from Rs. 624500 to Rs. 769500 (approx). It comes in a wide range of vibrant colors, including Fiery Black, Mist Silver, Mint Green, Lucky Lilac, Gold Shimmer, Toreador Red, Java Brown and Rocky Beige.
