The Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation Ltd., came into existence on 25th Jan 1977. Its memorandum of understanding provides for taking over and managing the existing hotels, construction of new hotels, motels and restaurant, managing tourist transportation, production and distribution of publicity materials etc and adopt such methods towards the development of tourism in the state. The Corporation actually started functioning on July 1984.
