A subsidiary of Karim’s MCI foods takes pride in cooking the Royal Mughlai food that was passed down from generation to generation. Displaced after the mutiny of 1857, Royal Mughal chefs took shelter in Farukhnagar, district Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Though they took up different occupations for their livelihood, the royal traditional recipes and techniques were passed down from generation to generation.Eager to utilize their kala to make people happy, in 1913, Haji Karimuddin set up a dhaba that sold Alu Gosht and Daal with Roomali rotis in Delhi. The food became popular and as little as two years later, Haji Karimuddin set up Karim Hotel in Gali Kababian, Jama Masjid, Delhi. Now, the fifth generation of Haji Karimuddin is running the hotel, which has a branch in Jama Masjid and a branch in Nizamuddin, West Delhi.Today, Karim’s is one of the top restaurants in Asia and is well known for its taste and authenticity. It has lived up to its aim of serving royal food to regular people.
