TCS develops software for textile manufacturers on GST compliance

Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), the premier apparel body, in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has developed a software for garment manufacturers to alert them about GST (Goods and Services Tax) compliance.
Priced at Rs 18,000 for the initial six months, the software has a unique feature for highlighting the stage of compliance. The software automatically sends reminders to a vendor or a supplier who has not paid a tax at any stage in the textile value chain.
"This is a unique software developed by TCS and is being launched today for the betterment of textile manufacturers at a minimal cost. The best part of this software is that it identifies the stage of non-compliance and sends automated reminders for tax compliance. A garment manufacturer knows which vendor in the value chain has not paid the tax and hence the garment manufacturer can guide the vendor to pay their tax," said Rahul Mehta, President, CMAI.
From cotton traders to ginners and fabric manufacturers, anyone found non-compliant of the GST will be identified through this software.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday announced a financial assistance scheme entailing a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to eligible women in the age group of 21 to 60 years in the state Budget for 2024-25.
Pawar, who holds the finance portfolio, said in his budget speech in the assembly that the scheme, "Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana", will be implemented from July, four months ahead of the state polls which are due in October.

ITC Ltd has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing Britannia Industries to claim the title of India's second-largest listed packaged foods company by sales, trailing only behind Nestle, reported The Economic Times (ET).

Former Andhra Pradesh (undivided) Congress president D Srinivas died here on Saturday, his son and Nizamabad MP D Arvind said. He was 76.
Srinivas had been unwell for the past few days, family sources said.
He was the PCC president during the 2004 and 2009 assembly and general elections. He was also a minister in former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy's cabinet.

Byju Raveendran, the founder of the beleaguered ed-tech firm Byju's, put himself on a pedestal and stopped listening to anyone, said Gaurav Munjal, the chief executive officer of edtech firm Unacademy.
Munjal highlighted the importance of ‘blunt feedback’. In a post on X, he alleged that Byju’s founder stopped listening and failed to have people who could give him the right feedback.
