Bajaj Auto domestic motorcycles sales up 5%, exports down 11% in Oct
Bajaj Auto released its sales figures for the month of October on Wednesday. In the month, the two-wheeler maker's domestic motorcycle sales were up 5%, however, exports fell 11%. Its total sales (commercial vehicles and motorcycle sales) grew on 1% compared to the same period last year.
According to the data released in a statement to the BSE, Bajaj Auto sold 2,12,997 units of its motorcycles in the domestic market in October, compared to the 2,02,042 units sold in the same period last year, a growth of 5%.
However it exported only 94,895 units in October compared to the 1,06,691 units exported in the same month last year, a drop of 11%.
In the commercial vehicles category, Bajaj Auto sold 11% more units in October this year -- 25,784 units - compared to the 23,135 units sold in the same period last year. It shipped 22,492 units of its commercial vehicles, compared to the 20,954 units exported in October 2015, up 7%.
Bajaj Auto's total domestic sales grew 6% to 2,38,781 units in October while exports fell 8% to 1,17,387 units. Total sales were up 1% at 3,56,168 units versus 3,52,822 units sold in the same period last year.
After the release of the monthly sales figures, the shares of Bajaj Auto were trading at Rs 2,804.55, down Rs 20.15 or 0.71% from previous day's close. At the time, the 30-share benchmark Sensex was trading at 27,611.84, down 264.77 points or 0.95% lower.
