Tata Motors marketing head for passenger vehicles quits

Mumbai: Delna Avari, marketing head for passenger vehicles at Tata Motors Ltd has resigned from the company, according to two people familiar with the matter. Both of them declined to be identified.

A Tata Motors spokesperson confirmed she has resigned to start her own venture. “She will be serving her full notice period and be with the company till April.

Avari was instrumental in repositioning the Nano as a city car and has been closely involved in the marketing communication campaign of Tata cars including the Zica, the compact car model Tata Motors plan to unveil during the auto expo on 3rd February. She was also spearheading the digital strategy involving the brand and worked on improving the retail experience in Tata showrooms. Last year, Tata Motors inducted her on the board of Concord Motors, company’s retail arm.

Having joined the Tata Group as a Tata Administrative Service graduate in 2001, Avari has been associated with Tata Motors since 2002 in various subsidiaries including UK, South East Asia. In 2013, she along with Ranjit Yadav, the erstwhile president of passenger car business unit, carved a separate marketing function for passenger car business unit which lately has seen some traction in sales after the launch of the new generation Nano, Zest and Bolt models.
