16th Lok Sabha pays tribute to Gopinath Munde on day 1, new members to take oath tomorrow

New members of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday attended Parliament for the first time. However, the House was adjourned shortly after paying tribute to Gopinath Munde, who died in a tragic road accident on Tuesday.

Former parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath, who chaired the House as the Pro-tem Speaker, asked members to observe silence to pay tribute to the deceased Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.

After seeking the recommendation of the new members of the Lok Sabha, Nath announced that the oath-taking would take place on Thursday.

Referring to the sudden demise of the Maharashtra leader, Kamal Nath said on behalf of all the members, “We deeply mourn the loss of Gopinath Munde.”
