Tata-Hitachi JV 100-tonne dump truck launch in 2016
Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Company Ltd, a JV between Tata Motors and Japan’s Hitachi Construction Machinery, is expecting its 100-tonne dump truck to hit the market during the first half of 2016.
Rana Sinha, managing director of Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Company Ltd, said, “The 100-tonne dump truck is very much on the cards. We are conducting trials and expect it to be launched in 2016.”

The 100-tonne dump truck is widely used in coal and iron mining activities, and considering the industry is returning to growth with the demand growing for higher capacity off-highway truck, the JV expects good response for the new truck.It expects to sell around 160 of them.
The truck would be manufactured at the JV’s Kharagpur facility in West Bengal. The plant was set up with an investment of around Rs 600 crore. The JV expects growth in the current fiscal to be around 5 per cent, while the growth for next fiscal year would be up to 15 per cent.
With the budget is expected in almost two months down the line, the JV said, “We are looking at 15 per cent growth next year and the following year to see a growth of 20 percent,” Sinha said.
Last year, the company had a sales of around 4,500 units and posted a turnover of Rs 2,400 crore, though the overall market shrunk 27 per cent during the year. The year before that the overall market shrunk by 20 per cent, added Sinha.
