M&M to launch nine vehicles this year
Utility vehicles maker, Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (M&M), is planning to launch nine vehicles, including refreshes and all-new models, in both the personal and commercial segments during this financial year, according to Ashish Malik, vice-president (marketing, automotive division).
“The XUV500, launched in September 2011, has taken the Indian automobile industry by storm. More than 100,000 units were sold within three years of its launch, and we are currently selling 3,000 units of the XUV month-on-month,” he told mediapesons at the launch of the 2015 XUV500 facelift in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Stating that M&M currently commands a 17 per cent share of the total utility market (priced above Rs 10 lakh) in the country, Malik said the company expected an uptick in its market share with the introduction of the new age XUV500.
According to him, southern cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai are critical contributors to the XUV500 sales. The company is selling anywhere between 180 and 200 units a month in the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, he added.
M&M’s new age XUV500 is available in six variants, with the price starting from Rs 11.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Hyderabad).
