Gold price rises by Rs 160/10 gm in early trade; silver remains unchanged

Gold prices increased by Rs 160 per 10 gram in Saturday's early trade with the yellow metal (24-carat) trading at Rs 51,980. The price of silver, meanwhile, remained unchanged at Rs 55,400 per kilogram.
Ten gram of 22-carat gold is trading at Rs 47,650 on Saturday after an increase of Rs 150.
In Mumbai and Kolkata, 24-carat gold is selling at Rs 51,980 per 10 gram, while 22-carat gold is trading at Rs 47,650 in the respective cities. In Delhi, 24-carat and 22-carat gold is trading at Rs 52,140 and Rs 47,800 per 10 gm, respectively.
24-carat and 22-carat gold in Chennai is trading at Rs 52,800 and Rs 48,400, respectively.
Meanwhile, one kg of silver was trading at Rs 55,400 in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. In Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kerala, silver is selling at Rs 61,300 per kg.

Auto components major Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd on Friday announced the acquisition of 81 per cent stake in Japan's Yutaka Giken Co, Ltd in which Honda is a majority shareholder, for USD 184 million (over Rs 1,610 crore).
Directors of the company at their meeting held on August 29, 2025, considered and approved to acquire 81 per cent stake with voting rights in Yutaka Giken Co, Ltd (YGCL) and 11 per cent stake in Shinnichi Kogyo Co, Ltd (Shinnichi) through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Motherson Global Investments BV (MGI BV), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd (SAMIL) said in a regulatory filing.

Adani Power on Friday said it has received the Letter of Award (LoA) to set up a 2,400 MW greenfield thermal power plant with an investment of $3 billion at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
In a statement, Adani Power said it has received the LoA for 25-year long-term procurement of electricity from Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL), which it will supply from a 2,400 MW (800 MW X 3) greenfield ultra super critical plant to be set up at Pirpainti.

Chief Justice of India B R Gavai on Friday administered oath to Bombay High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Patna High Court Chief Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi.
The two were elevated to the Supreme Court on August 27.
With their elevation, the apex court is set to regain its full working strength of 34 judges, including the CJI.

The proposal to recast goods and services tax (GST) rate by September-end saved the Indian stock markets from a sharp correction in the backdrop of steep tariffs of 50 per cent imposed by the United States (US) on the country, said Christopher Wood, global head of equity strategy at Jefferies, in his recent note to investors, ‘GREED & fear’.
Wood has removed the investment in Aditya Birla Real Estate in his India long-only equity portfolio and replaced it with an investment in Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M).

Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Urjit Patel has been appointed executive director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government said in a statement released on Friday.
The announcement came almost four months after former chief economic adviser (CEA) Krishnamurthy V Subramanian’s term was cut short at the Bretton Woods institution and he was recalled by the government.
