Claiming that they are innocent and being framed in a false case, the four accused in the Hathras incident have written to letter to the Uttar Pradesh Superintendent of Police.
The letter bears the thumb impression of the four accused, identified as Sandeep, Ramu, Lavkush and Ravi.
Sandeep, who is the main accused has said that he was not involved in the sexual assault on the 19-year-old girl. He added that he knew the victim and was in touch with her. Sandeep also said that the girl's mother and brother are responsible for her death.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday, Zee News had reported that victim's brother and main accused Sandeep were friends and they used to talk with each other on phone too.
Zee News has the call data records indicating that the accused Sandeep used to talk to the victim's family on a specific number. It was found that the number was registered in the name of the victim's brother. Call data records show that from October 2019 to March 2020, there was a five-hour conversation between the two numbers. However, the victim's brother refused to accept that he used to talk to the main accused Sandeep over the phone.
The 19-year-old woman was attacked in her village on September 14 by four men and left with severe wounds, including fractures, a spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed. The UP police have alleged that there was no rape or gang rape and the forensic report proves this. That claim is questioned by the experts suggesting that the sample was taken 11 days after the attack.
