Former SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya has joined the Reliance Industries board as an independent additional director, the Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate said in a regulatory filing. She has been appointed for five years starting October 17, 2018, subject to shareholder approval, the statement further said.
“The board of directors at its meeting held today, ie October 17, 2018, has appointed Arundhati Bhattacharya as an additional director of the company, designated as an independent director,” the RIL statement to stock exchanges said.
The appointment comes days after India-focused private equity firm ChrysCapital Advisors announced Bhattacharya as an advisor. Bhattacharya, who will advise on firm’s strategy and investments, will be working with ChrysCapital managing partner Kunal Shroff and other partners.

In yet another incident of violence against minorities in Bangladesh, a Hindu leader in Dinajpur's Biral upazila was kidnapped and brutally assaulted to death, as confirmed by the local police and family members. Local search engine Just Dial has reported a 61 per cent year-on-year increase in net profit in FY25 to Rs 584.2 crore.
For the January-March quarter of FY25, Just Dial logged a profit of Rs 157.6 crore.
Revenue for FY25 was Rs 1,141.9 crore, reflecting a 9.5 per cent growth over FY24.

United States President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) said that the US may "take a pass" on its efforts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine if either side makes negotiations too difficult, CNN reported.
"If, for some reason, one of the two parties makes it very difficult, we're just going to say, 'You're foolish, you're foolish. You're horrible people,' and we're just going to take a pass," Trump said.
