Salman Khan shares prison with tainted godman Asarm Bapu, to spend night at Jodhpur Central Jail

After conviction in 20-year-old blackbuck poaching case, Bollywood star Salman Khan will be spending night at Jodhpur Central Jail on Thursday.

The 52-year-old will be sharing the jail with tainted godman Asaram Bapu, who has been lodged in the jail for a rape case. Salman Khan has been placed in the VIP barrack of the jail. His barrack is adjacent to Asaram’s cell.

This is his fourth time that Khan has been sent to the Jodhpur Central Jail. He has earlier spent a total of 18 days in the jail in 1998, 2006 and 2007, all for cases of poaching.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri today sentenced Salman Khan to five years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 in the 1998 poaching case.

Interestingly, other co-accused in the case were let off by the court. The court acquitted his colleagues Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre and a local, Dushyant Singh, giving them the "benefit of doubt". The incident took place in Jodhpur when these stars were shooting Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Saath Saath Hain.
