While hearing a petition on Thursday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has said that marriage between first cousins is illegal.

This comes after a 21-year-old man moved the high court against state of Punjab seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 366A (procuration of minor girl) of the IPC at police station Khanna City-2 in Ludhiana district on August 18.

With the Delhi government increasing fines for not wearing a mask in public places from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000, the Delhi Police issued 2,110 challans on Thursday for not wearing a mask, taking the total figure of challans to 4,98,984.

Data from the Delhi Police says that while most of the challans have been issued for not wearing a mask, a total of 3,368 challans were issued for spitting at public places and 37,774 challans were issued for violating social distancing norms.
