V K Sasikala, close aide of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and expelled AIADMK leader, has decided to quit politics ahead of the Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.

She issued a statement saying she is quitting politics to ensure that Jayalalithaa's golden rule is established in Tamil Nadu.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that the indigenously made vaccine Covaxin has shown an interim efficacy of 81% during the phase 3 results.

The ruling BJP recorded a massive victory in the local body polls in Gujarat on Tuesday by winning clear majority in all 31 district panchayats as well as in 196 out of 231 taluka panchayats and 74 out of 81 municipalities.
