Shares of HDFC Bank were up 3 per cent at Rs 1,564.75 on the BSE in intra-day trade on Wednesday after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday allowed the private lender to issue new credit cards. However, RBI's ban on the bank introducing new digital initiatives will continue.
Despite today’s gain, in the past three months, the stock of HDFC Bank has underperformed the market by gaining 7.5 per cent, as compared to a 13 per cent rally in the S&P BSE Sensex.

The Supreme Court Tuesday issued notice to the Centre on a batch of pleas seeking independent probe into the alleged Pegasus snooping matter, making it clear that it did not want the government to disclose anything which might compromise national security.
A bench headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana sought the Centre's response on the pleas and said it will take up the matter after 10 days and see what course should be adopted.

Shares of Aurobindo Pharma hit a fresh 52-week low of Rs 728.50 as they fell 3.4 per cent on the BSE in intra-day trade on Tuesday. The stock of the pharmaceutical company has declined 12 per cent in the past three trading days after the company reported a disappointing operational performance in the June 2021 quarter (Q1FY22), amid a decline across the US market and antiretroviral (ARVs). The stock of the pharmaceutical company was trading at its lowest level since June 2020. In the past one month, it has lost 25 per cent, as compared to a 4.4 per cent rise in the S&P BSE Sensex.

India has administered more than 88.13 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the highest ever vaccination achieved in a single day, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

Taking cognizance of the current situation in Afghanistan, India has reviewed visa provisions and introduced a new category of electronic visa called e-Emergency X-Misc Visa with an aim to fast-track visa applications for entry into India.
Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the nodal ministry to handle visa-related issues, took the decision and made the announcement on Tuesday, two days after the Taliban's stunning and rapid takeover of Afghanistan.

India's pharmaceutical sector is looking at an opportunity to the tune of USD 10 to 11 billion in the form of COVID-19 vaccine supply, in both domestic and export markets in the next three years, rating agency Care Ratings has said in a report.
However, the Indian vaccine makers are unlikely to get the premium pricing being enjoyed by US-based multinational companies which is anywhere between USD 15 and 25 per dose, their average realization could remain anywhere between USD 3.25 and USD 3.50 per dose, it said.

India on Tuesday is bringing back home its ambassador and staff at the embassy in Kabul in a C-17 heavy-lift aircraft of the Indian Air Force in view of the prevailing situation in the Afghan capital after its take over by the Taliban, people familiar with the development said.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said it was decided that the ambassador and his Indian staff will move to India immediately considering the current circumstances in Kabul.

Shares of the companies engaged in healthcare services or hospital business were in demand on Tuesday with Apollo Hospitals Enterprises, Fortis Healthcare and Max Healthcare hitting their respective new record highs on the BSE in intra-day trade. In the past one week, these stocks have outperformed the market by surging between 12 per cent and 15 per cent as compared to a 2 per cent rise in the S&P BSE Sensex on the back of a robust performance in the June quarter (Q1FY22).
Among individual stocks, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises hit a new high of Rs 4,612, up 6 per cent in the intra-day trade today, having soared 14 per cent in the past two trading days.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) became the second listed company and the first information technology (IT) company to cross the Rs 13 trillion market capitalisation (market-cap) as the stock hit a new high in intra-day trade on Tuesday.
Shares of TCS hit a new record high of Rs 3,520, up 1.4 per cent on the BSE in intra-day trade. In comparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 0.09 per cent at 55,632 points at 11:21 am.
