London, Mumbai and Bangalore have featured among the world's top startup hubs, according to a comprehensive ranking of international startup hubs compiled by Startup Genome for its annual Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2021.

Despite Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic, London maintained its second-place ranking tied with New York for the second year in a row. Bangalore also ranked in the top 30 global tech hubs (#23 globally) and Delhi made it into the top 40 list, coming in at 36th.

Noting that democracies around the world are under threat, US Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday said it is imperative that India and the US defend democratic principles and institutions within their respective countries and around the world.

Harris made the remarks during her joint statement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma could see his stake go up One97 Communications, the parent company of the digital payments platform. Sharma, who holds around 14.6 per cent in One97, could see his stake increase by another 2 to 4 per cent, said sources in the know.

IT major Infosys on Thursday acknowledged that some users continue to experience difficulties in accessing the income tax portal and assured that it is working expeditiously, in collaboration with the Income Tax Department, to further streamline end-user experience.

More than 80.67 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and union territories, out of which, over 4.29 crore balance and unutilised doses are still available with them, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

As per a statement released by the ministry, the Centre has provided 80,67,26,335 vaccine doses to all the states and union territories so far (free of cost channel) through the direct state procurement category and 64 lakh doses are in the pipeline.

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) said on Thursday it has received official communication from the Odisha state government for grant of mining lease of the Kasia iron and dolomite mine.

The company has been declared as the preferred bidder for the mine at a premium of 118.1 per cent. The Kasia Mine has a large resource of 278 million tonnes of iron ore and consists of an average Fe grade of 62.5 per cent.
