More than four-fifths of Omicron patients in England's hospitals have not had their booster doses, official figures have revealed.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) confirmed the toll in its weekly surveillance update, saying 608 out of 815 hospitalised patients struck down with the ultra-infectious variant were not triple-jabbed. A quarter was unvaccinated, reports DailyMail.

India saw a single-day rise of 22,775 new COVID-19 cases, highest since October 6, while the number of active cases surpassed one lakh and Omicron infection tally reached 1,431, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.

India logged 161 fresh Omicron infections, taking the total tally of such cases in the country to 1,431.

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Saturday reported a four per cent fall in the total wholesales to 153,149 units in December 2021.

The company had sold 160,226 units in December 2020, MSI said in a statement.

Homegrown auto major Tata Motors on Saturday reported a 50 per cent jump in total passenger vehicle sales to 35,299 units in December 2021.

The company had sold a total of 23,545 units in the same month a year ago, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing.

Vinod Kannan took over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vistara airline on Saturday, a statement said.

Kannan replaced Leslie Thng who was the CEO from July 16, 2017 to December 31, 2021.

In its statement, Vistara said Deepak Rajawat has been elevated to take up the role of Vistara's Chief Commercial Officer from Saturday onwards.

MG Motor India on Saturday reported 43 per cent increase in retail sales in 2021 at 40,273 units.

The company had sold 28,162 units in 2020.

The company's sales last year was mainly driven by its Hector SUV which clocked 31,509 units, followed by Gloster SUV at 3,823 units, ZS EV 2,798 units and Astor SUV 2,143 units, MG Motor said in a statement.

The GST officials on Friday said the Mumbai Commissionerate while investigating the business activities of a cryptocurrency exchange, WazirX, detected GST evasion of Rs 40.5 crore.

"The GST of Rs 40.5 crore was not paid. Along with interest and penalty, on December 30, a total of Rs 49.2 crore has been recovered from WazirX," a GST official said.
