New Delhi has been ranked the world's most polluted capital city for s second consecutive year followed by Dhaka (Bangladesh), N'Djamena (Chad), Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Muscat (Oman).

Of the 15 most polluted cities in Central and South Asia in 2021, 12 were in India. New Delhi saw a 14.6 per cent increase in PM2.5 concentration in 2021, 96.4 Ig/m3, up from 84 Ig/m3 in 2020.

Gold prices remained stable on Monday after posting its biggest weekly drop since June as investors weighed monetary policy tightening in the US against the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The metal fell 3.4 per cent last week as the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time since 2018. Several officials urged a faster pace of policy tightening to curb the hottest inflation in 40 years.

Indian shares fell on Tuesday, dragged by heavyweight banking and consumer stocks, with a continued rise in crude oil futures denting sentiment further.

Shares of Ratnamani Metals & Tubes hit a record high of Rs 2,449, on rallying 7 per cent on the BSE in Tuesday’s intra-day trade after the company won an on order worth Rs 591 crore. The stock surpassed its previous high of Rs 2,329.15 touched on March 2, 2022. In comparison, at 10:27 am, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 0.51 per cent to 56,999 points.

The company has received a new domestic line pipe order for Rs 591 crore from the oil & gas sector, to be executed between August 2022 and March 2023, Ratnamani Metals said in an exchange filing.

Shares of Reliance Industries (RIL) hit an over two-month high of Rs 2,513.50 after the shares gained 2 per cent on the BSE in Tuesday’s intra-day trade. The stock was among the top gainers on the S&P BSE Sensex, which down 0.33 per cent at 57,104 points at 10:02 AM.

The stock of RIL, which hit its highest level since January 19, 2022 today, had hit a record high of Rs 2,750 on October 19, 2021. In the past two weeks, RIL has outperformed the market by surging 12 per cent as compared to a 7-per cent rise in the benchmark index.

Shares of One97 Communications, the parent company of digital payments major Paytm, continued to remain under pressure and hit a new low at Rs 550.50, down 3 per cent on the BSE in Tuesday’s intra-day trade on the back of heavy volume.

In the past one month, the stock has tanked 32 per cent owing to persistent negative news flow. In comparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was down marginally by 0.21 per cent during the same period. The stock hit a record high of Rs 1,961.05 on November 18, 2021, in intra-day trade, but failed to touch its issue price post listing.

Petrol and diesel prices on Tuesday were hiked by 80 paise a litre each while domestic cooking gas prices were increased by Rs 50 per cylinder, ending a over four and half month election-related hiatus in rate revision, sources said.

Petrol in Delhi will now cost Rs 96.21 per litre as against Rs 95.41 previously while diesel rates have gone up from Rs 86.67 per litre to Rs 87.47.

India is considering making all adults eligible for booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine, two sources with knowledge of the matter said on Monday, as infections grow in some countries and some Indians find it hard to travel abroad without a third dose.

Only frontline workers and those older than 60 are now allowed to take booster doses in India, whether free in government centres or paid for in private hospitals.

Shares of Kishore Biyani- led Future Group companies continued to be under pressure on Monday. Most of the Future Group listed companies traded at their all-time lows after they informed exchanges that the Group has called for a meeting with their respective shareholders and creditors meetings on April 20 and 21 over approval of Rs 24,713-crore deal with Reliance Retail.

Future Retail, Future Supply Chain and Future Lifestyle Fashions hit their respective all-time lows on the BSE in Monday's intra-day trade.

The price of ten gram of 24-carat gold on Monday remained unchanged at Rs 51,600, much like the price of 1 kg of silver which also did not show any change and stayed at Rs 68,000.

The price of ten gram of 22-carat gold continued to trade at Rs 47,300 for a second day.
