Air India prepares one of the largest aircraft deals in aviation history

Air India Ltd. is considering ordering as many as 300 narrowbody jets, according to people familiar with the matter, in what could be one of the largest orders in commercial aviation history as the formerly state-run airline looks to overhaul its fleet under new ownership.

The carrier may order Airbus SE’s A320neo family jets or Boeing Co.’s 737 Max models, or a mix of both, the people said, asking not to be identified because the discussions are confidential. A deal for 300 737 Max-10 jets could be worth $40.5 billion at sticker prices, although discounts are common in such large purchases.

As many as nine more persons died in Assam due to the flood, taking the overall death toll to 54, according to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Friday.

As many as 18.94 lakh people in 28 districts are affected by the flood situation.

The deaths were reported from Hojai, Nalbari, Bajali, Dhubri, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, and Sonitpur districts of Assam.

Bank credit grew 13.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in the fortnight ended June 3, the highest in the past three years, the latest data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) shows. Growth in bank credit in the previous year was 5.7 per cent.

At an event on Friday, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said: “We are seeing reasonably satisfactory credit offtake happening. It is about 12 per cent YoY, according to the latest data. Last year, around this time, credit growth was 5-6 per cent.”

The Capital Raising Committee of the company's board approved a proposal for raising up to Rs 350 crore through issuance of 3,500 non-convertible debentures, HDFC Life said in a regulatory filing.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has ordered attachment of bank accounts as well as share and mutual fund accounts of Aakruti Nirmiti Ltd and its directors to recover investors' dues totalling over Rs 95 crore.

The recovery proceeding has been initiated against them to recover Rs 95.81 crore, along with further interest, all cost, charges and expenses, Sebi said.

Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is financially supporting 45 Ro-Ro (roll-on-roll-off) ferry projects with total cost of Rs 1,900 crore, an official statement said on Thursday.

The ministry has operationalised Ro-Pax (roll-on-roll-off passenger) ferry service between Ghogha-Hazira in Gujarat and Mumbai-Mandwa in Maharashtra, it added.
