In the wake of the violent terror attack in Pahalgam, the United States expressed solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism and reiterated its support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The statement comes from US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce during a press briefing on Friday, as Washington maintained high-level diplomatic engagement with both India and Pakistan.

Technology majors Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and IBM today announced partnership to further develop India’s quantum industry. The Supreme Court on Friday rejected JSW Steel’s ₹19,700-crore resolution plan for Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd (BPSL), terming it "illegal" and ordering the liquidation of the debt-ridden company.

The plan has been earlier approved by BPSL’s Committee of Creditors (CoC). On this the apex court stated that the plan violated insolvency law as JSW had used a mix of equity and optionally convertible debentures (OCDs) to fund the takeover, instead of equity alone.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection rose 12.6 per cent Y-o-Y to an all-time high of about Rs 2.37 lakh crore in April, government data showed on Thursday.

The GST mop-up was Rs 2.10 lakh crore in April 2024 -- the second highest collection ever since the roll-out of the indirect tax regime on July 1, 2017. In March 2025, the collection was Rs 1.96 lakh crore.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a judicial inquiry into the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, stating that such actions could "demoralise" security forces at a crucial time, reported Live Law.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions in April declined by 2 per cent to 17.89 billion, while the transaction value dropped by 3 per cent to ₹23.95 trillion, following a stellar performance in March 2025 driven by year-end sales.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) today registered a 48 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at ₹3,014 crore for March quarter of financial year 2024-25 (FY25), driven by higher income and revenue growth. Adani ports had registered a profit of ₹2,040 crore in the year-ago period.

The total income increased to ₹8,769.63 crore from ₹7,199.94 crore in the March quarter, a rise of about 22 per cent.

India has closed its airspace to all Pakistani-operated, owned, or leased aircraft — both civilian and military — effective April 30 to May 23. The move, conveyed through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued on Wednesday (April 30), comes in direct response to Islamabad’s earlier airspace restrictions on Indian flights.
