The Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) on Tuesday admitted an appeal by US-based high frequency trading (HFT) firm Jane Street and its affiliates against the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) over an alleged market manipulation involving the Nifty Bank index.

A three-member SAT bench directed Sebi to file its reply within three weeks. Jane Street can file a rejoinder in the subsequent three weeks.

India and Israel on Monday signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) in New Delhi to boost financial and economic ties between the two countries, the Union Finance Ministry said.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday that stronger joint measures by the US and Europe, including secondary tariffs on the countries that buy Russian oil, could push Moscow to the negotiating table over the Ukraine war.

"If the US and the (European Union) can come in, do more sanctions, secondary tariffs on the countries that buy Russian oil, the Russian economy will be in full collapse, and that will bring President Putin to the table," Bessent told NBC’s Meet the Press, according to Reuters.

Mining major Vedanta Limited has proposed an upfront payment of ₹4,000 crore in its bid for the bankrupt Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL), with the remaining balance to be paid over the next five to six years, according to a PTI report.

With this, the Anil Agarwal-owned mining conglomerate’s bid carries a net present value (NPV) of ₹12,505 crore in the auction conducted by lenders to find buyers for JAL.

Former US National Security Adviser (NSA) Jon Bolton on Thursday said that President Donald Trump's relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi has "gone now." In a post on X, Bolton said, "Trump had a very strong relationship with Modi. I think that's gone now."
