Kyoto-based Omron Healthcare, one of the world’s largest players in the medical devices space, has started the construction of its first manufacturing unit in India at Origins by Mahindra in Thiruvallur district's Peruvoyal village.

It was in May that the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to come up with a Rs 130 crore investment in the state. The company could start manufacturing all products in its portfolio, including blood pressure monitors, from Tamil Nadu.

About 100,000 reassessment notices issued by the income-tax (I-T) department in the past years -- where the income escaped from tax was above Rs 50 lakh -- will be concluded by March 2024, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday, assuring taxpayers of a transparent, objective, and friendly tax regime.

MCG giant ITC on Monday announced that it had received in-principle approval from the board of directors to demerge its hotel business. Under the new arrangement, a new entity called ITC Hotels Ltd will be incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITC Ltd.

ITC will hold a 40 per cent stake in ITC Hotels, and the company's shareholders will hold the remaining 60 per cent proportionate to their shareholding.
