HC rejects ED's plea against Tech Mahindra in attachment case

In a relief to IT firm Tech Mahindra, the High Court of Judicature here dismissed a petition filed by Enforcement Directorate (ED) challenging the court's earlier decision of issuing stay orders on agency's attachment of fixed deposit worth Rs 822 crore belonging to the company.

In 2012, the ED had issued attachment orders freezing fixed deposits of Mahindra Satyam (now merged into Tech Mahindra) in connection with its probe in a money laundering case.

Market regulator Sebi has sought clarifications from the merchant banker of Videocon D2H Ltd, the satellite television arm of Videocon Group, regarding the company's proposed Rs 700 crore initial public offer (IPO).

Without disclosing the details of clarifications sought, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has said that "clarifications (are) awaited from Lead Manager" for the proposed public offer.

Indian satellite television operator Videocon d2h Ltd has agreed to sell shares worth up to $375 million to U.S.-based Silver Eagle Acquisition Corp and the proceeds will be used to expand its services.

Silver Eagle will own between 33.5 percent and 38.6 percent of Videocon d2h for $300 million to $375 million, the two firms said in a statement late on Monday. The deal will result in the listing of the Indian company in the United States.
