In a landmark move to usher in transparency in higher judiciary, the Supreme Court on Thursday order its registry to make public the in-house procedure for enquiry into sexual harassment and other complaints against High Court judges and Chief Justices.

A bench led by justice J.S. Khehar was pronouncing the judgment in a petition filed by an additional district judge in Madhya Pradesh complaining of harassment faced at the hands of a Madhya Pradesh High Court.

India will start charging income tax on digital economy firms, such as Facebook, Twitter and Uber, soon after the OECD finalises a framework by April 2015 to tackle the widespread corporate practice of shifting of profits to low-tax countries, government officials said on Wednesday. Tax may be levied on overseas firms that have a ‘significant digital presence’ in the country by treating their domestic activities as ‘a virtual place of business’ akin to permanent establishment.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed penalties on ICICI Bank and Bank of Baroda (BoB) for violating Know Your Customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering norms.

ICICI Bank has been slapped with a fine of Rs 50 lakh, while BoB has been levied a fine of Rs 25 lakh.

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has completed its initial Rs 1,000-crore investment in Larsen & Toubro Infrastructure Development Projects (L&T IDPL). The two companies had signed an agreement in June and the investment was concluded on Tuesday.

According to the agreement, CPPIB will invest the second tranche of (a minimum of) Rs 1,000 crore after 12 months. This is the first direct investment by the Canadian pension plan in an Indian infrastructure company.
