BSE Sensex rallies over 240 points on global cues; bank stocks rise

Tracking positive gains, the BSE Sensex extended gains and was trading over 130 points up on Thursday’s afternoon trade following sustained foreign funds inflows and across-the-board buying by investors.

At 3:20 pm, Sensex was up 245.95 points at 28,444.24. Similarly, Nifty was up 84.70 points at 8,608.50 during the same time.

The All India Petroleum Dealers Association on Thursday demanded 'one nation one rate scheme' for fuel over the recent hike in petrol prices in the national capital.

"We will hold a meeting and decide whether to declare a strike or not. We want one nation one rate scheme," said Ajay Bansal, President of the association.

Bharti in talks to buy Idea & Vodafone towers for $1.6 bn

Cash-rich Bharti Infratel is in advanced talks with British telecom major Vodafone and the Aditya Birla Group's Idea Cellular to buy out their telecom towers at a valuation of up to $1.6 billion (Rs 10,080 crore).

Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, India's top three cellular service providers, jointly own stakes in unlisted telecom tower company Indus Towers, apart from having their own tower arms. Banking sources said Vodafone might sell 11,000-12,000 towers and Idea Cellular 9,000 to Bharti Infratel.

New Delhi, July 14 (PTI): Realty major DLF is likely to raise about Rs 2,500-3,000 crore by next month via private equity and is in talks with the Singapore government's investment arm GIC to sell stake in a new housing project here.

According to market sources, the company is in an advanced stage of talks with sovereign wealth fund GIC to sell up to a 49 per cent stake in the new residential project in the national capital. The deal is expected to close in the next one month.

HTC has announced four new HTC Desire smartphones, including the HTC Desire 520, Desire 526, Desire 626, and Desire 626s. All four phones will be LTE-capable, contain Quad-core Snapdragon processors, and have a variety of displays.

The Desire 520 has a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854×480) display, and comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. The main camera is a 8MP recording at 720p, and the front camera is 2MP also capturing 720p film.

Diplomats reached the deal in Vienna on Tuesday, their 18th day of talks. US President Barack Obama said it blocks “every path to a nuclear weapon” for Iran, while Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called it a “win-win”.

ONGC draws Rs 53,000-crore plan for KG block: Report

State-owned ONGC is in the midst of a programme to drill a total of 45 development wells in the Krishna-Godawari deepwater block KG-DWN-98/2, at a whopping Rs 53,085 crore, which also includes setting up a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) system and a fixed offshore platform, an industry web site said.

When contacted, ONGC officials said the field development plan (FDP) for the KG block was yet to be finalised. They added that ONGC has a deadline to submitted the FDP to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbon by September.
