State-run Coal India is trading higher by nearly 2% at Rs 336 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after company invited bids from international companies in order to establish a washery in Jharkand.

The move is made by the company to benefit its customers including power plants with high quality coal.

Clamping down on illegal money pooling activities, capital markets regulator Sebi has barred Vasundhara Realcon and its directors from raising money from investors through issuance of securities.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India had received a complaint alleging that Vasundhara Realcon was collecting money through various schemes and investment plans.

In a bid to provide quality coal to its customers, including power plants, state-owned CIL has invited bids from international companies to set up a coal washery in Jharkhand.

The government had earlier said that challenge is not quantity but quality of the fossil fuel.

Patna: Though the official announcement is awaited, JD(U) Nitish Kumar in all likelihood would take oath as the new chief minister of Bihar on 20 November.

In a significant policy shift, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has decided to buy crude oil from Indian traders in the spot market overseas in addition to foreign entities. The state-run firm has also taken some other steps like reducing the bidding time for spot tenders as part of a strategy to clinch more remunerative deals.

Of about 66 million tonnes of IOC’s refining capacity, just 12%, is fed by domestic crude. As far as imports are concerned, 30% of the sourcing is done via spot-market deals.
