Sebi prefers retail investors coming via MFs, pension funds: Sinha

Small investors are best advised to enter the stock market through institutions such as mutual funds and pension funds, Sebi Chairman U K Sinha said today while asserting that he was not worried if smaller investors do not participate in IPOs directly.

Sinha also emphasised that the regulator has put in place all necessary measures to check any manipulations in the primary markets, even as various attempts have been made in the past to manipulate the IPOs.

BSE to introduce new group 'W' from Friday

Leading stock exchange BSE will classify warrants issued by companies into a separate group, called 'W', with effect from Friday.

Currently, all types of warrants are traded under 'F' Group.

The move follows after BSE (formerly known as Bombay Stock Exchange) launched three new sub-groups -- 'XC', 'XD' and 'XT' -- for companies listed exclusively on its platform last month.

Infosys, the country’s second-largest information technology services company, is pushing the use of renewable energy to reduce its carbon footprint. It is installing solar power plants that can produce 55 Mw of electricity by end of next year. This would cater to close to a third of its annual energy requirement.

“By December, we would be commissioning 15 Mw of solar plants in our campuses, including a 7-Mw solar power plant, set up at our new campus in Hyderabad. We would also be adding 40 Mw next year,” said Ramdas Kamath, executive vice-president and head of infrastructure, facilities, administration. Last year, Infosys consumed 257 million units for all its facilities in the country.

D&M report pegs ONGC gas leak to KG-D6 at Rs 11k cr

International oil and gas consultant DeGolyer & MacNaughton (D&M) on Tuesday gave its final report on the dispute between Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Reliance Industries (RIL), establishing natural gas — believed to be worth Rs 11,000 crore — has migrated from idling Krishna-Godavari fields of the state-owned firm to the adjoining KG-D6 block.

The US-based consultant had in October given its interim report to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH). The upstream regulator had then invited comments from the two companies on the findings.

The company had sold 34,292 units in the same month last year, M&M said in a statement.
